10 Things {Vol. 1 ~ Happy Birthday to Me!}

Today, I’m turning 26.  Do you know what that means?  I’m closer to 30 than 20.  That freaks me out just a leeeettttllle bit.  When I was a kid, I thought 20 was the age at which you had arrived. 30?  That’s so old, it wasn’t even on my radar.

So I’m not quite sure what this means.  Do I start buying anti-aging creams? Is there a rule book about what clothes I can and can’t wear now that I’m getting older?  Will I wake up one of these mornings and not be able to move my creaking joints? But on the flip side, maybe I’ll start feeling like I have life together (ha).  Hopefully I’ll become a better wife, mother, and friend.  Maybe, when my hair starts to grey, I’ll color it red because I’ve always secretly wanted to be a ginger head.

But lest I depress myself entirely, here are ten things that I’ve found around the interwebs that I liked, and hopefully you do to!

1. I think I’ll spend tomorrow afternoon making something luscious, decadent, and that I’ve never made before.  Maybe a crepe cake like this?

2. I’ve been using last year’s planner (it had a few 2016 months in it), but I just ordered this one on Amazon.  It’s pretty, inexpensive, and should arrive on Monday.  Happy birthday to me!

3. In a world ruled by consumerism, sometimes less is more.

4. I really don’t like mugs.  Not being a coffee or tea drinker, they seem extraneous and cluttery in my kitchen.  But then I checked out Anthropologie’s mug game, and it is on point.  Seriously.  Like this one.  Or this.  Or this.  I would take them all, but see link number three…

5. In the Such a Lot of World to Eat project, we’re looking at Denmark next.  Then Egypt. Then France.  My brain is so excited about all of them that it is about to explode.   So much good food happening.

6. Easter is in about a month, and it’s the next official holiday.  For once I’m on top of it (maybe?), so I might try some of these paper mache Easter eggs.  So pretty.

7. My sister is visiting this week with her baby and husband, and I’m beyond excited.  We’re reworking a rather bland living room wall, and it’s going to be stellar.  Because we’re awesome like that.

8. The dress is pretty, but the blue is my favorite.

9. If you’re trying to break an Instagram habit, this list of floral accounts to follow might be your Kryptonite.  I might have just added pretty much all of them…

10. {Warning: This is about to get goopy and sentimental, and I don’t care.}
I really, really love my husband.  He’s not the flashy sort, and kind of hates attention, so if he ever reads this he will probably DDDIIEEYYUUHH. But he’s the most selfless, loving person I’ve ever known.  There’s no one I’d rather wake up next to every morning, go to sleep with every night, and live every messy, frustrating, happy, beautiful moment in between.  If I have to get old, I’m so grateful that I get to do it with him.  P.S.  He also does birthdays really, really well.  I’ll tell you about it more next week.

Happy weekending!
